  1. Stumbled upon your blog while reading compulsively about the Secret History, this list is amazing!
I think the book about the history of clubs is The Secret History of London Clubs by Edward Ward from the 1890s.

  2. Hello Laura,
I’m here for the same reason – compulsive research about this fascinating book. But I am so glad I found your blog! I love your writing and the subjects you write about, namely teaching… And I really like the clear, stylish look of your blog. So this won’t be my last visit, to be sure!
I also checked out your tumblr and detected a certain morbid longing for the picturesque (you are sure you are not Richard Papen?!). The timeless quality of your photos is amazing. You must be really patient to get as little cars, people or other indications in which century you life into your pictures. I love the mood of them.
So, to come back to this amazing reading list: may I point out that you might add Kallimachos? Or did I just not see him? Please don’t take it wrong!
Do you think Donna Tartt read all this, or at least about it, before she was 28?! I think I need to get better with my time management… Turning the computer off now…
