Assessment

The Wes Anderson style still project was really effective and what they handed in was really awesome – the understood what we have been studying and channelled their knowledge into a product – it was great!

Next was the close reading assessment. I put aside three lessons for this – one to throughly explain the assessment and do a practice, and two lessons to complete it. The final work of most the students was to a high standard – which made me very proud of them. One student even used the term “dollhouse aesthetic” when describing Anderson’s cinematography in the opening scene of Moonrise Kingdom.

Just wrapping up the term now – only two days to go!

  1. Hi Laura, I remembered your enthusiasm for this unit when we met in the interview. I’m hoping to try teaching a similar unit myself. Out of curiosity was the close reading assessment a mini version of 1.2 (the Year 11 Media one)? You have great ideas. Thanks heaps.
