In Much Ado About Nothing Bendick descibes his ideal woman – this task is a fun way to make Shakespeare’s play relevant to students.

Show students examples of Lonely Hearts ads that are found in newspapers such as this:

Instructions:

Read Benedick’s speech about love and women from the first part of Act 2 Scene 3 – up to line 34. Write a lonely hearts ad for a lonely hearts column, in the role of Benedick at this point in the play. Keep it under 25 words. Don’t be afraid to use humor!
