J.K. Rowling did an amazing thing for all women when she created Hermione Granger, smart, brave, talented, and loyal. Hermione is everything I want to be.
In Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone she is bushy-haired and buck-toothed, she doesn’t need to be pretty because there is so much more to her, it is her mind who defines her, not her beauty. She may get teased for being smart and bookish, but Hermione doesn’t care what others think of her. Hermione is proud of who she is and where she has come from, she is a muggle-born yet still the most talented witch of her age, proving that success does not depend on your background. We see her grow from a “insufferable know-it-all” to a brave, loyal, intelligent, strong, and incredibly powerful young woman.
Ron rightly sums it up when he tells Harry, “we wouldn’t last two days without her”, and he’s right. They wouldn’t.
Without Hermione, would Harry be “the boy who lived”?
